We are the parish church for Monkseaton Village on the outskirts of Whitley Bay. We are part of the Church of England Diocese of Newcastle. St Peter’s has served this community for over a hundred years, and we seek to continue to do so today. Our mission statement ‘Gathering in Love, Growing in Faith, Giving Hope to All‘ sums up what we seek to do as this part of Christ’s church in this community.
Who we are:
Vicar: the Revd Canon Dr Hannah Cleugh
Hannah has been vicar of St Peter’s since 2021. She is also an Honorary Fellow in the Department of Theology and Religion at Durham University, is an Associate Tutor for Lindisfarne College of Theology, and is a member of Newcastle Diocesan Synod.
She is married to David, and they have a daughter and a spaniel.
